A report published today on BBC states that the scientists are now able to control living bugs through remote control. What was done during the experiment is that they gained control of the nervous system of the bug, by means of chips attached to its body, and made it to fly in the room by controlling it through a Laptop.
What I want to stress here is that the world is moving towards miniature technologies and we should not lag behind. I know that we are going through a bad time but we should not lose hope and keep striving. This technology has a lot of implications esp. military and we should also be using it for surviellance etc. to compete with other countries.

ImHalal.com is a search engine created to make the online life easier for the Muslims. It filters all the websites which contain any immoral or pornographic content. And shows you only the web pages which have content suitable for the Muslims.

A quick search for the term 'porn' does not yield any results for me and it was displayed that this content is Haram in category 3. And also to tell you that it is in the beginning stages and its filter might be lacking somewhere but InshAllah it will improve with time.
I will recommend this search engine to all the parents for their kids who are new on the internet so that they don't reach any place which is not suitable for them.

Life after Rain!

I shot this picture some time ago in abbottabad when I went out for a walk after rain. There was cool breeze blowing and i was enjoying myself.
Suddenly I saw a small girl stuck in mud in the middle of the road.Fascinated by the scene my cam popped out and took the shot.

"Attention plz"

Tamam mob companies ne apne custumers ko balance check par 12 paisy Ramazan gift dia hy,
jisko tamam costumors ne reject kardia hy,
jis tarah tamam companies apne customors k khilaf 1 howi hy ,

Bilkul esi tarah tamam customors ne companies k es iqdam k khilaf 1 hony k faisla karlia hy,

Tamam costumors ne ,
"10-9-2009 THURSDAY" ko hartal (strike) ki call di hy,

10 sep ko kisi bi mob se na hi koi sms kia jay ga or na hi koi call ki jaye gi.

Intihaye zarorat ya emargency ki surat may "PTCL" use kia jaye ga.....

Plz 4wd"

I got this sms from a friend and I realized that we are being looted by the teleco's and PTA. As when one loads a Rs.100 card, he is deducted Rs.15 and then we are taxed on every outgoing call and sms. And now charges+tax on balance inquiries is complete injustice to us and we should protest against this. So please Spread the Word and Say No to mobile on 10th Sep.

It is to tell all my readers that i have been recently interviewed the Pak Spectator team and my interview is published on their website. A little excerpt from the interview is

'Could you tell us what made you decide to blog, and what was the inspiration behind it?
I was introduced to blogging back in ‘04/’05 when i was an avid reader of the local Spider technology magazine, which led me to the pages of Dr Awab, which was at that time teethmaestro.blogspot.com, G3technews,g3technews.blogspot.com, and Saj Shirazi,http://sajshirazi.blogspot.com/. These 3 personalities were my inspiration to blog.'

'What's the first thing you notice about a person (whether you know them or not)?
I straight-forward look onto his face and get to know whether he is friendly mood or not? and if not then i quit.'

'What do you think where the Pakistani blogosphere is right now?
I think Pakistani blogosphere is of very high caliber.Their command over english language is very good and the ideas are expressed very impressively. The designs are also good. They can compete with blogs from any part of the world.'

'Any Message you want to give to the readers of The Pakistani Spectator?
I will recommend all the readers of The Pakistani Spectator to always try and project the true colors of our religion, culture and civilization which include honesty, humbleness, respect, honor, unity and many others to the outer world and dispel what is spread in media against Pakistan these days.'

Geo tv showed the sehri time of 1st ramazan to be 5:11 am in Peshawar and my family started the fast according to it but in the evening i got a sms from my friend containing sehri and aftar timings, in which the Sehri time was 5:06 am.I was amazed and after that i cross checked it with different sources and the time 5:06 am appeared to be correct.
I am sharing this to tell my other country fellows to not to blindly follow these media channels and to confirm yourself first before believing them.

Beauty in Captivity

These were the most wonderful birds which i have ever seen live but unfortunately they were imprisoned. They were about the size of domestic sparrows and are being sold in Peshawar Saddar at a rate of 120 Rs. per pair. According to the seller, they were brought from Iran.

There is ongoing load shedding of about 14-18 hrs daily and I wonder if the clocks were not moved one hour ahead, then we would have been facing 24 hrs load shedding daily and in that case the electricity production of a nuclear country would have been zero. How funny!

I plea to the authorities that either to show the people the real benefits of moving the clock ahead or to relieve the people, esp. the uneducated ones, of this confusion of New Time or Old Time.

I also want to explain here that the clocks are moved ahead in only those northern countries in which the sun only shines for 4-5 hrs during certain period of the year.So they wake up early in the morning and finish all of their work in sunlight.Contrary to this, the sun shines in Pakistan for almost 10-14 hrs round the year, so logically there is no use of moving the clock ahead.

The team which we are going to face in T20 final today is our very nice friend as they were the only team to visit Pakistan when no other country was willing to come. And even when they were attacked in Lahore, they didn't make a lot of mess against us and also honored the bus driver who saved their lives.
What i mean is that, during the match our sentiments should be with both of the teams and should enjoy the victory of the winning team.

Yesterday Dr.Farooq Sattar of MQM announced in a press conference that he had a meeting with the PM.He advised to him that the pension increase should be 20% (previously 15%) and,as 55% of our population is youth so the 20 paisa tax on sms should also be relieved.According to him the PM agreed and soon this will be announced by Hina Rabbani Khar.

I Salute the Security Forces!

As the situation is getting worse day by day in our country, the respect for Army, Frontier Corps, Police and every other security providing department is also increasing in my heart. And this went sky high today when i drove from Peshawar Saddar to University as I found police standing at almost every turn in the scorching heat devoting plenty amount of time in checking every car. I found them to be risking their own lives to save many others.
As they endanger themselves for us, one should always co-operate with them if they ask you to stop.

Almost everyone is aware of the ongoing situation in the north of our country, especially Swat valley. Due to the pertaining conditions, almost 10 lakh people have fled to take refuge in camps where there are no facilities such as food, water, clothes, health, shelter etc.
I request, all of the telecom operators such as
Ufone --------- Tum hi to Ho!
Mobilink --------- Aur Sunao!
Zong --------- Sub Keh Do!
Telenor --------- It’s Fun to be Young!
Warid --------- Life Ka Network!
to keep up to their slogans and to provide good packages to peoples as you do in your competitive markets. You provide entertainment at different occasions such Eids, New Year by arranging different stage shows, dramas etc but this time it’s the real suffering people who need your help!

(An email which I sent to all mobile networks).

These were the words of a young man, who was in his late 20’s and from overall look he appeared to be from far flung area of NWFP, while he was standing at a stationary shop beside me in Peshawar Saddar. The shop owner grimaced at him and asked why? He said, “Sorry Sir, it’s late in Saturday evening and I forgot that the office of my mobile network provider will be closed at this time. What will I do with this Photostat as it is useless for me till Monday?”
The shop owner and I exchanged smiles with each other, when we heard these words from that ignorant young fellow. He was then explained that never to give your NIC to someone as there are a lot of scams occurring on the basis of NIC’s and one should always write on top of the Photostat that this copy is for this purpose only. For example, that this NIC copy is for PTCL connection only.
He was completely mesmerized when he left the shop.

Have you ever wondered, what the Aurora wallpaper in Windows Vista mean? Does it ever exist?

Aurora, also called as northern lights phenomenon or southern lights phenomenon, are natural light displays in the sky, usually observed at night, particularly in the polar regions. They are most commonly observed in Alaska, Canada and Sweden.

They are produced by the collisions of Solar wind (gas of free electrons and positive ions emitted by the Sun in all directions) with the earth's magnetic field. This interaction in the atmosphere electrically excites the electrons which emit energy in the form of visible lights. Most Aurorae are green and red emissions from atomic oxygen. Molecular nitrogen and nitrogen ions produce some low level red (pink) and very high blue/violet aurorae. The light blue and green colors are produced by ionic nitrogen and the neutral helium gives off the purple colour whereas neon is responsible for the rare orange flares with the rippled edges.

There are always times when there is a task to finish in a limited amount of time and suddenly you start to feel tired and sleepy. To get back in action,

Take a tech-free break

Being at the mercy of electronic devices keeps us in "fight-or-flight mode," Kingsley says. You get an adrenaline zap every time the cell phone rings or an email comes in. Over time, living off adrenaline exhausts you. Cell phones, in particular, put increased stress on women, research shows.

Even though both men and women say that their cell phones allow job worries to affect their home lives, only women experience the opposite effect—the spillover of home concerns into work. The solution: "Set boundaries at work and home," Kingsley suggests, "so your attention isn't always divided." Give yourself at least an hour a day when you completely unplug from electronic devices. That chance to check in and connect with yourself will re-energize you, she says.

'Dear Customer! In order to ensure a high quality SMS sending experience for all our valued customers, automatic SMS delivery confirmation will not be available.'
A message received from Ufone on 4/3/09.I am personally very keen of receiving the delivery report but after this i am always unsure whether my message got delivered or not.

Monday, March 02, 2009

After the announcement of ufone's unlimited sms package (unlimited in their dictionary means 500), i have tried this package twice. But at both times, i was very much annoyed at their service. At first i tried to activate this package at 12.00am but received the activation message at 03.45 am and at second occasion i didn't get the activation message even after 9 hrs.And the funny thing is that the amount is deducted at the time you send the activation request not at receiving the activation confirmation.
I know that this can be due to network overload but a company should know its network's capacity before announcing such packages rather than fooling and looting its customers.

For the last few days, Sunsilk is promoting its shampoo by showing a girl dancing and shaking on the streets which i totally object.
I want to ask the authorities which type of culture they are promoting. This is not our Pakistani heritage. And a morally sound Pakistani will not allow its sister, daughter etc to shake its booty on the streets.
Its time for us to rise and stop this non sense which is slowly instilled into our societies.

I was so happy that the Swat treaty has lended peace to the region but this recent news about Sharif brothers has not only caused a stir in me but in the whole nation and to a severe extent.
The people have raged onto the streets demolishing everything that comes in their way.A scroll on the express news channel says that people have burnt 2 police stations on the Islamabad Highway.
This is a very worrying condition for every citizen and i pray to Allah that Please lift this curse from us which is there for the last few years.Ameen!
